Road Safety
On Monday the 5th of February, the whole school were fortunate to attend road safety programs run by the Kingston City Council.
During the foundation, year one and two’s session, we learnt all about crossing the road safely, using the Stop, Look, Listen, Think slogan. The students learnt about safe crossing areas, such as zebra crossings, pedestrian crossings, and listening to the lollipop person to help them cross safely. They discussed why some areas were safe to cross and others were unsafe, for example, walking out between parked cars.
As a group, we created a picture on the whiteboard of different ways that we travel to school. Drawings were added to the picture as students shared what they saw on their journeys on their way to school - trucks, other cars, buses, people riding bikes ETC. Students learnt about the importance of wearing helmets and safety equipment when riding their bikes, scooters or skateboards.
