Attention Parents of Year 3,4,5 and 6 children.

Important Sporting Information regarding St Catherine’s involvement in the Holt District Sporting Association.

 Students in Yr 3,4, 5 and 6 have the opportunity to compete in the Holt District Sporting Association.                                                                                         

St Catherine’s is one of 8 schools who compete against each other in the following Sports - 

• Swimming (Yr 3,4,5 and 6 children eligible)
• Soccer (Yr 5 and 6 children eligible)
• Cross Country (Yr 3,4,5 and 6 children eligible)
• Interschool Sport - AFL football and netball (Yr 5 and 6 children with some selected Yr 4’s if required)  
• AFL football / netball Lightning Premiership (Yr 5 and 6 children eligible with selected Yr 4’s if required)
• Hooptime (Yr 5 and 6 children)
• Athletics (Yr 3,4,5 and 6 children eligible)

It is important to note that NOT all children will participate in these events. Many of these events will be by selection only and skill level may be a requirement. This is not something I like to do as I like all children to participate if possible, but due to the number of teams needed this is what needs to happen.

Age Groups for Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics (Birth dates, children are turning that year) 

9/10 yrs

11 yrs

12/13 yrs

Holt Swimming 

16th February 2024. 

Children are given a form at the end of the previous year which needs to be filled out at the beginning of the school year. Children MUST be of racing ability and children need to be timed over 50m in their preferred strokes. Times are compared and the top 2 swimmers in all strokes and age groups will be selected to participate in the carnival.

Holt Soccer Lightning Premiership 

Friday 19th April 

Venue - Caulfield Park

10.00am - 2.00pm approx

Children selected from Yr 5 and 6 only. Tryouts will be done at school over a 4 week period and have already begun. Very popular event, sadly not all children will be chosen.

If your child is chosen I will require help with transportation to and from this event.

Holt Cross Country

Wednesday 1st May 2024

Distance - 9/10 yrs 2 kilometres

Distance - 11, 12 and 13 yrs 3 kilometres

Happy for any child wanting to participate in this event to compete, however they must train at school and also train outside of school hours so their fitness level is at an optimum level. 

Interschool Sport

Various Fridays during Term 2.

Sports played are AFL football and netball and Yr 5 and 6 involved with some yr 4’s if required.

Hooptime - 5/6 competition held at MSAAC.

Holt Athletics

Monday 2nd September 2024

Duncan McKinnon Athletic Track

Open to Yr 3, 4, 5 and 6 children.
Children will try out in the following events; 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, hurdles, shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump and 4 x 100 relay. 

Top 2 children will be selected for squad in field events and most track, except for 100m where top 4 will be chosen and form our relay teams.
