Interschool Chess Competition

Congratulations to the 27 students from Foundation to Year 6 that participated in the Interschool Chess Competition at Tucker Road Primary School in Bentleigh on Wednesday, 4th September. Thank you to Megan Moore and Catherine Dudley for assisting me to walk the children to Tucker Road and for encouraging and supporting them throughout the day. 

The students played 7 games against different opponents.  We came 3rd overall. The children all received a certificate. A special congratulations to Linus Hupfeld who received a medal for achieving the highest increase in ranking amongst all the players and for managing the second biggest upset against a higher ranked player during the competition. The following students also received a medal for achieving the highest scores in their category: Nicholas Stamatakos, Nathan Anesides, Liam Carapeto, Andrew McCormack, Linus Hupfeld, Jack Thorp, Jessica Lee and Benjamin Castrillon.

We are looking forward to entering our team in more competitions in 2010. The team will continue to meet during Term 4 to practise their skills and learn from each other.
