Earth Hour
Last week, to build a greater awareness of the effects of Global Warming on our environment and what we can do to protect our world, each class participated in an Earth Hour activity. These lessons were prepared and presented by our Year 6 Environment & Sustainability Leaders.
The classrooms were a buzz with students discussing their thoughts after listening to the information presented by our leaders and watching clips about Global warming and how our world is being impacted. You may like to watch the following clip with your family to promote further discussion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6zW43U7yqM&t=17s
The students in the Junior school created artwork to show that they are the future and they hold the future of the Earth in their hands. The Year 3 & 4 students built paper houses from recycled paper. Each student wrote why they think it is important to look after our world. The Year 5 & 6 students wrote energy saving and environmental life statements to combat Climate Change as a way to help our world in the future.
Last Friday between 2:30 and 3:30 the whole school powered down to use only essential power. The Year 6 leaders went on a power walk to ensure the school was doing their part for the hour.
