One of our year 4 students, Sophia Yau, has gone to great lengths in her own time to raise money for Project Compassion, making and selling Rocky Road Popcorn. She has raised over $100 to donate to the Caritas Foundation. Congratulations to Sophia for showing such initiative in this act of social justice! Here is what Sophia had to say about her fundraising efforts:

How did you raise the money?

 Well my Mum and I came up with an idea and it was batches of rocky-road popcorn so it was 240g a bag for $8.

Why did you raise the money?

Because we thought that there getting all of this polluted water and we thought if we did this they can get clean water and we thought that no one would get it but we sold so many.

What does the money go to?

It goes to Project Compassion and we as much to give is communities in Zimbabwe,Solomon Islands, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia and Australia.

Why is it important?

Because some communities aren’t as lucky as we are to have running clean water, school supplies or treatments or medicines when they are sick.
