Wellbeing News
One of the very best times to prepare our children's social and emotional wellbeing for the day ahead is first thing in the morning. Creating a routine of sharing some positive affirmations is a great way to help the children start their day off feeling connected, respected, and valued. By putting social-emotional learning first, we help pave the way for them to do their best for the rest of the day. That’s a win for everyone involved.
When used on a regular basis affirmation and positive self-talk can help children to:
- Feel more confident & empowered
- Create positive beliefs about themselves
- Increase their self esteem
- Become more emotionally resilient
- Boost positive feelings
Positive self-talk statements or affirmations are an empowering way to help children each day. Have them create their own positive affirmation lists. Put their list in their learning space at home, so they can read these phrases each day. Some children might benefit from guided practice with positive affirmations. For example, you could share an affirmation or phrase and have them repeat it back. If they like the phrase they could write it on their list. There are multiple techniques for using positive affirmations as part of your daily routine. You might like to share a family affirmation at breakfast for everyone to think about during the day. Everyone could choose their favourite affirmation and as a brain break during the day sit and design a poster to put up in the house.
Please email any posters created and we can share them in our next newsletter.
