Religious Education News
New Changes to the Sacrament of Eucharist as of Monday 16 August
Due to the current COVID restrictions, we have modified some aspects of the Eucharist Program.
Eucharist Presentation Mass- Cancelled
In consultation with the Parish, it has been decided to cancel the Presentation Mass where candidates are presented with a candle from the Parish. The Parish has dropped these candles into the school and these will be given to the candidates as part of the Reflection Day once they are back onsite.
Eucharist Family Workshop- Online
Rescheduled- 6.30-7.30pm Wednesday 25 August
We plan to hold the family Eucharist workshops online, 6.30-7.30pm Wednesday 25 August. This workshop will go ahead even if we are still in Lockdown 6.0. A resource pack for the workshop will be available for all candidates on Friday 20th August for pickup from the school hall from 3.00pm-5.00pm. Attendance at this workshop is part of the preparation for your child’s Eucharist. At least one parent and your child will need to attend this workshop. A Google Meet link will be sent to your email address the day before the workshop. (Tuesday 24 August) Please email carmel.donlon@scmoorabbin.catholic.edu.au if you have any issues with the google meet link.
On the night you will be asked to participate in prayer and activities with your child. We will also give you further information about the Eucharist celebration.
Eucharist Reflection Day- Date to be determined once Lockdown 6.0 has ended
Your child will also participate in a student Reflection Day at school. Once Lockdown 6.0 has ended, you will be notified about the new date and requirements for the day. On this day students will attend the Parish Mass ( if restrictions allow for this) and engage in Eucharist activities with their teacher.
Traditionally the school provides a special lunch celebration for the Eucharitst candidates on the Student Reflection Day, however this is not possible at the moment with the COVID restrictions. We plan to organise a special lunch for the candidates at another time, later in the term.
Eucharist Family Celebration- Date to be determined once Lockdown 6.0 has ended
Father Jacob has kindly offered to celebrate Mass for the students and their families separate to the Parish Mass. This will enable more family members to attend. A new date will be selected once this current lockdown ends. All candidates will be at the same Mass.
