READING IN THE YEAR 3/4 COHORT

This week in Grade 3 students completed all four NAPLAN assessments. They showed great determination and focus during this week. Well done Grade 3s - we are very proud of you! 

In 3/4JB we have been working on building our fluency skills through partner reading. The students have been using a variety of different levelled texts from EPIC, an online program.

We have started working on the reading strategy of ‘summarising’. Being able to summarise is an important skill as we need to be able to identify the main idea of both fictional and nonfiction texts. We have been using the acronym SWBST when reading fictional texts as this acronym, when broken down, helps us find all the details we need to summarise perfectly. Texts we have been summarising either in write form or verbally include fairytales, non fictional text and our reading group books.
