Fourth Sunday of Lent
Prayer during Lent
Heavenly Father,
As I enter another week of my Lenten journey, guide me to the path that leads to you.
Fill my heart with gratitude, patience, strength, and peace as I strive to become the-best-version-of-myself, honestly admitting my shortcomings and sins.
As I renew my resolve each day to become a better person, let me hear your voice in the deepest reaches of my heart.
Give me rest in you.
Help me to accept others, showing them your great love instead of casting judgment.
Stay with me through the busy days this week and remind me that when I need comfort, solitude, wisdom, or guidance, I can always turn to you.
Help me develop discipline and generosity through fasting and almsgiving, and come closer to you through prayer this Lent.
In your name I pray,
Amen.

Parish Easter Celebrations
Good Friday Stations of the Cross will be held at St Catherine’s oval this year, and followed by soup served in the school hall. All are welcome. We are looking for volunteers to bring soups, complete with labels with ingredients (contact Maureen Gill 0417 938 250) for catering arrangements) and donate bread, and ask that everyone bring their own mug. Please warmly invite friends and family beyond our parish.
Please see the parish bulletin for more details regarding other Easter vigil events throughout holy week.
Sound Field Study- Melbourne University
Our school has agreed to participate in a research study, conducted by the University of Melbourne, Department of Audiology & Speech Pathology in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training (Victorian Deaf Education Institute). This study will explore the listening/academic benefits of Soundfield Amplification in school classrooms. This longitudinal study will investigate the effect of periods of classroom amplification and non-amplification on the development of academic skills in Grade 3-4 children.
A soundfield system will be installed for one term in the year 3-4 classrooms and removed for one term. Data will be collected to compare the effect of the amplification unit on academic skills. Each participating child will be removed from class for one 45 minutes and 5 minutes for three other test sessions test periods to undertake a series of listening and academic tasks. There will be no change to teaching or academic programs and the only adjustment for the teacher will be to wear a microphone. There will also be an opportunity for the school to purchase at a reduced cost the soundfield amplification equipment, which may have great benefits for student learning. Parents of year 3-4 students will be notified via Opperoo, seeking permission to participate in this study.
Student Voice
Our 2023 student voice representatives

Year 2 -Sam
Year 3 -Alice
Year 4 -Leila
Year 5 -George
Year 6 -Albie
Our student voice group will meet regularly with a member of the school leadership team. The meetings encourage students to have an authentic voice and to collaborate with adults around learning, along with communicating ideas and opinions on how to make our school a safe and engaging place to be. We met for the first time on Friday and worked on the role of student voice and how we would like our school to look, feel and sound.
Traffic Safety
Just a reminder for parents using Buchan Street and our church car park for pick up and drop off to be mindful of residential speed limits and to take extra precautions, due to the increase in parked vehicles in this area. It is at times difficult to enter and exit the church car park, due to the increase of parked vehicles on the street. Parents are encouraged to make sure you supervise your children getting in and out of vehicles in this area.
Thank you and best wishes
Last Friday, our students thanked and wished Olivia from Our Patch all the best for the future.
Our Patch is currently working on replacing Olivia with a new leader for our before and after school care program. Olivia thanked the students, families and staff for making her feel so welcome in our school community. We have invited Olivia to pop in from time to time to visit us, when she is not too busy with her university studies.
