Disco

Friday night fever hit St Catherine’s on May 19 for our second fundraising event for the year, the school disco!
The highly anticipated event saw excited students dance the night away in the school hall to their favourite tunes and harness their competitive spirit during limbo, four corners and other social games. The temporary tattoo station, snack table and quiet activity zone again proved extremely popular.
The disco raised a whopping $1375 which will be directed to an upgrade of the plants in the school courtyard area and new school PA equipment.
Thank you to the parents who volunteered their time to supervise the disco, and to those families who generously contributed to the goodies available for sale at the snack table. A very special thank you to Simon Wood for volunteering his time as resident DJ for the night, along with Julia Runci and Bernard Laville for organising the disco equipment and setup. The lights and speakers were kindly donated by Mark Banks and Lighting Lab in Box Hill.
Thanks to the following volunteers on the night:
Sloan Family
Brook Family
Kate Boxer
Currie Family
Lisa Anstee
Michelle Tang
Kirsty Goold
Laura McKell

Volunteers still required for Bunnings BBQ
It’s that time of the year and we need your help!
We urgently need more volunteers for our Bunnings BBQ on Sunday, 11 June. The BBQ is one of our biggest opportunities to raise much needed funds for our school. Last year’s BBQ raised significant funds which were put toward purchasing outdoor games and learning resources for all St Cath’s students to enjoy.
If you haven’t yet signed up to volunteer, please complete the online form at:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VYWSJLX
A reminder that friends and family members of school families are welcome to help too!
It is the King’s Birthday long weekend so we can expect a bumper trade, however we also know some families will be away. If you are not able to attend, please consider asking a friend or family member to volunteer on your behalf or donating one of the following items:
- Coke cans (48)
- Coke Zero Cans (24)
- Diet Coke cans (24)
- Lemonade cans (24)
- Solo cans (24)
- Apple Juice (12)
- Apple and Blackcurrant Juice (12)
- Water bottles (40)
- Tomato, BBQ and Mustard Sauce
- Hand Steriliser
On behalf of the Parents and Friends Committee, thank you for your generous support of this event, which makes a great difference to the current projects being developed.
Save the Date – Sunday 16 July Working Bee
Please save Sunday, 16 July for the Parents and Friends working bee. All families are encouraged to come along to help keep our school grounds looking beautiful.
While the working bee will be focused on the school grounds, a variety of tasks will available to suit all levels of gardening and maintenance ability. We’ll be focusing specifically on upgrading the plants in the school courtyard area with native plants for students to enjoy as they play.
More details will be provided soon.
Mums Time Out Group
The Mums Time Out Group had a fabulous first evening at Pony Boy for the annual Mother’s Day Dinner. Over a Greek banquet (and a cheeky cocktail or two) nineteen mums had a wonderful time catching up with mums across all year levels and create new friendships. Thank you to Nat Taffe for coordinating the event.
Our next events include a cocktail masterclass and an axe throwing night! The event date and details will be confirmed shortly. To receive updates on the upcoming events make sure you join the What’s App group. To join please contact Natalie Taffe on 0438 548 739.
Dad’s Group
A reminder that the Dads Group meets regularly for social events and is a great way for St Catherine’s dads to get to know others while having some fun. The next Dads Group is planned for Saturday, 17 June to watch a local footy game - Highett vs Caulfield Bears at Turner Road Reserve from 2pm (kiosk food and drinks available at the match, and kids/family are welcome at the game too!) - with dinner afterwards at Hellenic House Project in Highett Road. Bookings essential for the dinner portion of the day. To RSVP to this event, and stay up to date with Dad’s Group events please get in touch with Bernard on 0429 055 911, Pete on 0422 082 281 or Darren on 0490 502 108 to join the WhatsApp group.
