The ILF Great Book Swap
Thank you to our wonderful school community that very kindly donated books and participated in the Great Book Swap this year.
The Book Swap was part of our celebration during Book Week.
The children shopped for new books and discussed with their friends great books to read. We hope everyone shared the love of reading with each other.
Thank you to our Faith and Learning Leaders Cristina, Ben and Rebecca and Mrs Hamilton and Mrs Chiddo for assisting.

Book Week 2023 Read, Grow, Inspire
The celebrations of Book Week began with an amazing Book Dress up Parade. We were blown away with the outstanding effort and dedication to the different costumes. Thank you to all the families for the effort and inspiring costumes. During Book Week all the children at St.Catherine's participated in different Book Week activities showcasing our shortlisted books. All classes were able to read the shortlisted books and participate in the coloring competition and Family Canvases. The Family Canvases are displayed in the front foyer; they were all done in such high standards. Congratulations to all our winners. We can't wait for a bigger and better Book Week next year.

During Mrs Tavcar and Miss Carlisle’s book session, we read the picture book Our Dreaming by indigenous Australian author, Kirli Saunders. This book was about the journey of a mother echidna and her baby and their connection to Dreamtime. In the book, it explores a deep love and respect for Country and all her spirits... past, present and beyond.
It celebrated all the different Aboriginal languages throughout Australia. In the story, we looked at the different landscapes and words used in Gundungurra language.
After reading the book, we got a sheet of paper with symbols, using local indigenous words, we had to paint. We used water paint and our imaginations. I think I speak for everyone when I say that I had a really good time. I got the sheet with possum, wattle and what I think of when I think of my own name.
