Money Money Money!!
The 3/4s have been busy learning all about money! Financial maths can be understood as any mathematical problem that involves money. Undeniably, money, economics and finances play key roles in everyday life all over the world and so the importance of understanding this concept is high.
Grade 3-4 have really been enjoying learning about money in maths the past 2 weeks. Miss Burnet's group have been exploring and organising events based on different financial budgets. Students were given $100 to plan a birthday party for 12 people, in which they needed a cake, food, entertainment, decorations and a location. One group managed to plan a party for just as little as $87! The students loved this activity and were very successful! So parents, look to your children if you need help planning their next birthday party! With Mrs Moore and Mrs Pearson, students have been exploring money and representing it in multiple ways. They have worked on adding and subtracting, worded problems and counting the change to the nearest five cents. Children enjoyed working with budgets and creating posters on the items they’d buy, making sure they always got the right change!
