In Year 1/2 we have been learning about time! Students have been learning how to tell the time to the half-hour and quarter-hour using the language half past, quarter past and quarter to. Students created their own clock at the beginning of the unit using split pins and have referred back to their creation throughout the unit to use as a hands on manipulative.
This term Year 1/2 students have participated in weekly Chess lessons. Each week we learnt two new pieces until we knew all of the rules. We participated in different games against our classmates. The chess experts (chess club students) were challenged by playing Chess game variants including 4 Player Chess!
I didn't know how to play Chess before we had Chess lessons. I learnt to play Chess and it was hard at first and then when I started playing I got a bit used to it. I would tell people where to move their piece so I could get it. - Georgia
My favourite thing about chess lessons was playing 4 Player Chess. We had to work together with a partner on the opposite board with the same colour. - Xander
I like the 4 Player Chess game because I could team up with someone. I teamed up with Alexander. It was a draw in the end. - Oliver
