Foundation Mathematics - Catch and Count

In Foundation, we have been practicing an addition strategy we call catch and count. When we have a number sentence such as 4 + 9, we catch the larger number in our heads and then use concrete materials to count on. In this circumstance, we count onwards from 9 to 13. This means 9 + 4 is the same as 13!

This week, we have been playing a game using dice to keep catching and counting!
