First Eucharist

FirstEucharist.png

Congratulations to our year 4 students who celebrated their first Eucharist on Sunday 20 August. Thank you to families, staff and our parish for working together to prepare the students for receiving this sacrament. Our church was beautifully decorated with candles and art work created by the students and families.

MACSSIS Survey

MACSSIS surveys will open this week. The surveys have been created specifically for Catholic schools in Melbourne by the Learning Services team at MACS, in partnership with researchers at Learning First and in consultation with principals in our schools.

Year 5-6 students,  a random selection of families and staff are invited to participate in MACSSIS via the secure and purpose-built online platform. The online platform is where our school leaders will access the summary reports that visualise the results of the student, family and staff surveys.

The MACSSIS survey platform is operated by an independent supplier, ORIMA Research Pty Ltd. The platform meets with the high security and privacy standards for handling student and school data.

Students at our school will be provided with supervised sessions, where teachers are on hand to help and answer any questions. Families and staff can complete the survey anytime over the three-week window via an emailed link and password. A hard copy of the link and password will also be sent home this week with the eldest student in the family.

All participation is invited, welcomed and 100 per cent voluntary. The surveys are not a test; they are an inclusive way to support the work we are already doing to improve our school. Everyone has the right to refuse to participate, or withdraw from the survey at any point before, during or after completion of the survey. Please notify the school if your child does not wish to participate.

If you would like more information, please contact the school.

Victorian State Government Initiative

At the 2022 state election the Victorian Government committed to providing Little Angler Kits to students via schools. Year 5 students were selected as recipients based on the Victorian Curriculum focus on movement and motor development, and safety considerations.

The kits include a fishing rod, reel with line, tackle box with some hooks, sinkers, swivels and a lure, as well as a Kids Guide to Fishing – all FREE!

The kits will be distributed through primary schools between 16 October and 4 December 2023, in time for the summer holidays.

The program is voluntary, and we support parents and carers in making decisions that align with their family values and beliefs. You can choose to opt out of receiving a Little Angler Kit for any reason. Please email the school office if you would like to opt out. You can also contact the school to request an adult pick up the kit from the school if you prefer.
