World Teachers Day- Friday, 25th October
I want to express my sincere appreciation to the St Catherine’s staff for their unwavering commitment and care. You consistently go above and beyond, creating a supportive and nurturing environment for everyone. Your hard work truly makes a difference, and I am grateful for all that you do. Thank you for being such an incredible team. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Parents and Friends for organising the delicious cupcakes for our staff. Your thoughtfulness and generosity brought smiles to our faces and made our day a little brighter. The Leadership Team organised 15 minutes extra play so the staff could enjoy their cupcakes with tea or coffee.
New OSHC - Out of School Hours Care Provider in 2025.
Today I met with MACSEYE staff to start planning for 2025. We are very excited to be one of a small number of schools to start with MACSEYE in 2025. Today we looked at the space and discussed logistics for our school program going forward. I was very pleased to find out that this will be a 2 staff member service for both before and after school care. I will keep you informed throughout the transition/planning process.
Socktober 2024 - Wednesday 28th October 2.00-3.00pm
Thank you to Jaimee Hall, Joyce Dunne and the wonderful Year 5/6 students for all their work organising the 2024 Socktober Fundraiser. Students are invited to wear colourful socks with their school uniform. We can’t wait to see how creative the students will be. In previous years socks have not only been worn on feet. COLOUR RUN 2024- Pizza lunch reward
Thank you to Abbey Walters, her OLSH (Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Bentleigh) students and the P&F for a very successful Colour Run. See below for a detailed report. Thank you to Vish Sahota (Zia’s mum in Foundation) for working with the P&F team to organise a grant from Bendigo Bank in Murrumbeena for a generous $5000 to pay for our new shade tents. They were used for the Colour Run and looked fantastic. The students enjoyed some rewards for raising so much money. It was a fantastic effort for all involved. Red team enjoyed a delicious pizza lunch, an icy pole as well as 15 minutes extra play for collectively raising the most money. Blue team enjoyed an icy pole and 15 minutes extra play for coming second. Well done to yellow who were a close third. Thank you to the staff from De Marconi's in Highett who opened up early to cook 10 family margaritas for us - Yummy!
A Heartfelt Thank You to Community Bank Murrumbeena
On behalf of everyone at St Catherine’s Primary School, we would like to extend our gratitude to Community Bank Murrumbeena for their generous sponsorship of our three brand-new marquees. Your support means the world to us, and these marquees will make a big difference in our school’s outdoor events and activities, providing much-needed shelter for students and staff.
Beyond this, your investment in our local community shows just how much Community Bank Murrumbeena cares. By choosing to bank with Community Bank Murrumbeena, we are supporting a bank that delivers excellent service and are also supporting an organisation that reinvests its profits into local grassroots initiatives like ours.
Your commitment to helping schools, sports clubs, and other community groups flourish makes a real impact in the lives of local families. We are proud to be associated with a bank that values community as much as you do.
Thank you for all you do in making our local community stronger, more connected, and filled with opportunities for everyone to grow.
With heartfelt appreciation,
St Catherine’s Primary School

Sticks and Stones
Last Wednesday the whole school met in the hall to watch the wellbeing production of “Sticks and Stones.” The actors were amazing to watch as they juggled balls and batons and shared their talents together as their characters Toby and TJ.
The production explored important messages about how to treat others and how to safe online.

All Saints & all Souls day 1st November & 2nd November: These 2 special days are no longer holy days of obligation but we are still encouraged to pray for those who have passed away. November is a month dedicated to remembering those who have died. Often a connection is made to remembrance day on the 11th November.
1st November:All Saints’ Day is a time to consider the example saints offer us and to reflect on how we can imitate their lives. As Pope Benedict XVI said, All Saints’ Day calls us ‘to see the Church… as Christ wanted it, that is, as the communion of saints.’
All Souls’ Day follows All Saints Day on 2 November and is also known as the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed and the Day of the Dead. It is a day of prayer and remembrance for the souls of those who have died.We hold on to our precious memories of those that are no longer with us whether we knew them for a long time or only briefly.
For all those who have lost family members over the past 12 months we pray the following prayer for them.
The Year 5/6 Socktober Fundraiser is happening this Wednesday from 2-3pm. Please send your children with lots of gold coins on the day as we are raising money for a wonderful cause. All welcome!
Scholastic Book Fair
The Learning Leaders really enjoyed the Scholastic Book Fair because it gave us the responsibility of running the it.
Each morning we got to school at 8:30 to set up, and each afternoon we stayed till 3:40 pm to run it. We were so excited that the Scholastic Book Fair had come to us. We believe the students of St Catherine's thoroughly enjoyed it. The learning hub, each day, was full of people wanting to buy and look at new books. We can’t wait to showcase all the new books to you.
Thank you to our wonderful school community for supporting the Scholastic Book Fair.
