Transition back to school
It was great to see students and staff back onsite at school this week. We are looking forward to finally seeing our years 3 & 4 students on Tuesday. There were so many smiles on the faces of students (and parents) as they happily ran through the school gates.
For some students, they may find the transition back to school a little bit tricky. MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools) has provided some resources to support parents.

Last week it was wonderful to see our Foundation, Year 1, Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6 students coming through the gates. We eagerly await the return of our Year 3 and 4 students this week. I have included an article from Beyond Blue today about managing children’s transition back to school. Children will all respond differently to returning to school. It’s important to let them know it’s okay to feel worried or anxious about the change from learning at home to returning to onsite learning.
The staff have prepared a variety of activities to assist the children in reconnecting to school, friendships and routines. Teachers will adjust the daily routine to assist the students' needs, for example they may have an earlier time to eat lunch because waiting until 1:40pm may be very different to the times they were eating at home. The students would then return to work until the lunch bell goes.
Your home routines may take a while to return to before lockdown routines. Small things to assist a smooth exit out the door each morning might be to organise things such as packing bags the night before, checking for hats and water bottles, laying out the next day's uniforms. It will take all of us a little while to adjust, and remember we are all in this together.

Stay safe and take care.

Dear Families,
A warm welcome back to on-site learning and some extra freedoms. We hope you and your children are managing the transition well.
Thank you again to the amazing staff team who have supported all of us during home learning.
The P&F met recently to discuss what we can do as a community this year. We are hopeful that the new guidelines will allow us to have a community event, once we have the guidelines for schools, we will make some decisions about what we can do and send dates and details out.
The Christmas Raffle is our largest fundraiser this year, we hope you will make a prize donation (big or small), let us know if a business would like to donate, and sell tickets when they are released. Please see the flyer attached for details.
Money raised from both the raffle and the BBQ will go towards upgrading the AV equipment in the learning hub.
The details for the year 6 graduation function are yet to be confirmed. Traditionally, year 5 families help organise and run the year 6 graduation event – please contact us at stcathsparentsandfriends@gmail.com if you are willing to help.
We are also keen to grow our P&F next year – please email us if you would like to join as an ordinary member or if you are keen to take a leadership role on.
Stay safe and well,
St Cath’s Parents and Friends
