School Uniform
The school advisory committee has reviewed and endorsed some changes to our school uniform. Our current uniform looks very similar to Tucker Rd Primary school. Phasing out to the old uniform will take place over a 12 month period. I will give you more specific details, once items have been finalised.

- Navy school hat
- Navy lightweight school bag

Footy Day
This Thursday 16 September, classes will celebrate our annual “Footy Day” Mrs Patto and teachers have lots of online activities planned, so make sure you are wearing your footy colours on this day. Families are encouraged to join in on the action by dressing up, singing club songs, participating in mini tabloids sports, games, youtubes clips and more.
It’s hard to believe at the end of this week it will be school holidays. During this term everyone has needed to make changes due to the lockdown.
This week I have tried to provide a few resources that may be useful in planning a lockdown school holiday program that everyone will enjoy. You all deserve a well-earned break and I know this might be challenging for those parents who still need to continue to work with the students at home.
Take care and stay safe,
Maree

Our Year 6 chefs have been busy exploring their cooking repertiore during their Google meets this term. This time it was delicious cheesecake, YUM!
Congratulations to these Year 2 stars
Ben- creating an interesting inquiry project about Sir General John Monash using Google Slides.
Leila - having a go at all of her learning activities before asking for help
Eve - sharing ideas and reading aloud in reading google meets.
Cooper - sharing his ideas and listening to others during our small group Google Meets.
Harlan - trying his best during remote learning activities after only starting at a new school 2 days before lockdown.
In 1MH we have been planning and
writing sizzling starts in our
narrative stories. We have been
completing a reading task each day
like writing a postcard to the
character. During our Inquiry
lessons we have been learning
about forces. We have made a car
launcher and record the effect
gravity has on a toy car using an
inclined plane. In Maths we have
been learning about multiplication.
We all got to sort a bag of M&M’s
into equal groups and then we got
to eat them. We have been playing
lots of games to help us with our
counting patterns.

Congratulations to these Fabulous Foundation stars
Thank you to all who have returned their book to Mrs Barca.
Keep them coming next term. Happy reading over the holidays!!
Hello Everyone,
The P&F committee met last week and although we are unable to confirm dates for events due to
restrictions, we are hoping to have some community events in term 4. Please stay tuned.
One P&F project that will go ahead is the Annual Christmas Raffle, we will be seeking sponsors and
donations in term 4 for this major fundraiser for the school. Please let us know if you can help.
We are scheduled to host the Bunnings BBQ Saturday the 2nd of October (subject to the lockdown
lifting) – please put this in your diary to lend a hand for a couple of hours, a sign-up form will go out
via Operoo this week. Thanks to Suzanne Currie for coordinating this.
Our recent Father’s Day Stall raised $160.00 towards our fundraising goal to purchase a new smart
TV for the learning hub. Thanks again to Abbey Walters for coordinating this – the gifts were
wonderful.
Restrictions permitting, the Dad’s Night Out will be scheduled as soon as venues are available.
We are disappointed that the Music Trivia Night will again be postponed – the organizing committee
are determined to have it this year and will advise of a date as soon as restrictions allow.
We are seeking additional members for the P&F for next year, including class reps for each class.
I will be standing down from the co-ordination role at the end of the year after two years in the role.
I am hoping to hand over to the new coordinator in Term 4. The main function of the role is to chair
meetings and be the liaison between the committee and Lynda, to collaborate about events and
goals for the committee and how we can support the school. Please let me know if you are
interested in the role.
The responsibility and time commitment of the role have been greatly reduced by creating a
committee and sub-committees for all events. A plan for all events/fundraisers for next year will be
created by the end of this year and we are developing ‘how to run’ documents for all events in the
hope this will enable more families to be involved in big and small ways next year.
We as a P&F are, as always, very grateful to the ST Catherine’s staff for guiding us through the home
learning journey this term and the huge effort they have put in. We hope you all have a wonderful,
well deserved holiday break.
We are very hopeful the new term will see our children back at school and our community able to
come together. In the meantime, stay safe and well and enjoy the school holidays.
Please take care and reach out to us if we can support you in any way.

Exercise releases chemicals like endorphins and serotonin that improve your mood. It can also get you out in the world, help to reduce any feelings of loneliness and isolation, and put you in touch with other people. Practising mindfulness while doing exercise also reduces your stress and improves your mental health. During remote learning it is important for us all to keep active and keep our minds healthy. The Ride to school organisation have put together some fun and interactive resources that you might like to use at home or on the holidays. Below is the link. Click on it for access to the activities.
